They say that home is where the heart is. But it is also where each of us gets to unleash our inner interior designer and feel like we are walking around in our black pantsuits with clipboards analysing the feng shui and our colour palette. All up sometimes we can get a bit carried away when it comes to picking out decor. Plus some of those centrepieces can really rack up the dollars. And whilst not all of us have the budget to splash out on designer pieces and interior design gurus, if you shop around and pick your combos well, you can have a space that looks totally luxe and still stick to your budget.
So if your budget is more around the thousands than the millions, here are some easy tips to up the luxury without the hefty price tag.

Shop Around
So you see a piece in Vogue Living that you adore, but the price tag makes you want to scream. Never fear, you can probably find something similar elsewhere for much less. Here are some of our faves
IKEA - everyone's go-to for house furnishings on a budget, plus they have just done a collaboration with designer Tom Dixon and this chair is pretty amazing
James Lane - beautiful contemporary furniture, minus the ridiculous price tag
Matt Blatt - for replica design pieces and originals that won't cost you a bomb
The Design Twins - unique pieces from Sydney designers to make you stand out from the crowd
Kmart and Target - don't turn your nose up, there are some serious gems to be found in here if you look hard enough
Replica Phillipe Starck Ghost Arm Chair from Matt Blatt
Choose the right colour palette
A colour palette can change everything. The right combination can add serious $$$ to your look. Whether you are into Millenial Pink, or you're a fan of Pantone's 2018 Colour Ultra Violet, choose your colours wisely. Plus playing with textures, like linens can also add some wow factor.

Pick one statement piece, not 10
It's true, having a statement piece can mean everything when it comes to decorating. The trick if you want to stay on budget? Pick one and make it a good one. Whether it's a statement mirror, artwork, couch, wallpaper or whatever, just make sure you LOVE it and will continue to do so for years to come. Some of the biggest trends for 2018 include statement doors, big wall art, metallics, layering linens and ceiling decor.
