Top 6 Healthy Eats in Singapore

TOP 6 HEALTHY EATS IN SINGAPORE

Given that 60% of Singaporeans eat out four times or more weekly (event more than me!!), their health-food scene is starting to pick up. A new breed of restaurant is spreading - offering delicious options for those who are more healthy conscious. I headed out there to soak up some culture and check out the good grub on offer. Check out my top pics for chowing down in Singapore:

1. Afterglow by Anglow

At this delicious raw food veggie eatery, you'll find farm-to-table, eco-friendly dishes a-plenty. The team here have a hardcore dedication to making everything from scratch, and the menu serves up some awesome options - think raw pizza, acai bowls and raw pesto pasta. Yes, it’s hipster heaven, but you won't miss the meat, I promise!

2. Grain Traders

Grain Traders is a new kid on the block in Singapore. Its DIY health bowls allow you to pick from a selection of grains, proteins, toppings and yummy sauces. The menu is effortlessly cool. Think vegetable options such as apple kimchi and charred furikake corn, and sauces like beetroot cream (above). At just S$16 a bowl, it looks and tastes like a restaurant-quality special.

3. The Daily Cut

Top places to Eat Clean in Singapore. The Daily Cut

While this isn't in the most beautiful of settings, (in a shopping mall basement) the food far makes up for it. Collect a menu-option sheet at the beginning of the queue and select your base, protein, carbs (if wanted) and any dressing from the extensive list. Your perfect bowl is then make up on the spot as you hand it in to the counter. Fresh, wholesome, and totally your own creation. Tip: order takeout and enjoy on the grass outside.

6. Lean Bento

Using only pesticide + gluten free ingredients, Lean Bento's menu is created specifically for fitness buffs - with clearly stated nutritional content on all dishes (which I think all restaurants should have!). Depending on your level of activity or your fitness goals, pick from one of three categories: High-Protein, Low-Carbohydrate and Complex-Carbohydrate. Think salmon, chicken breast patties and other lean meats. Sides include protein-rich edamame, antioxidant-rich wakame salad, vegetables and multi-grain nigiri. Tip: Try the Lemon Sea Salt Salmon Roasted Broccoli Salad or Protein Garden (Vegan) - so good!
