‘Tis the season for blueberries here in Aus. They’re in abundance and cheap until March, so I try to get my fill in the summer months when they’re at their tastiest and locally sourced. Aside from being once of the most nutrient dense fruits around, they make the most amazing ice-cream that can legit double up as a brekkie bowl when your post-Christmas sugar crash is looming. The natural sweetness they provide kills sugar cravings and their fibre keeps you fuller for longer too!

If your Instagram feed is awash with yellow drinks and you’re feeling a little confused, it’s time to jump on the Golden Mylk bandwagon. It’s the next big health trend to come out of Asia after ghee and coconut oil. Cafes from Sydney to LA are spicing up their menus with turmeric-and-coconut-milk drink combos. While we’re just catching on, mixing turmeric root with milk is a well-entrenched drink in Indian food culture, where it is considered a restorative brew. The goodness come from the turmeric – known for its benefits to digestion, immune function, liver health and even possible protection from cancer. It’s a healthy alternative to your morning coffee, it tastes great, and it’s easy to make your own.

I know I’m healthy and all that, but I do have a tendency to add salt to just about everything. I’m cool with it, because I don’t have any pre-packaged foods that are secretly loaded with it.
Salt is actually a nice addition to food if you opt for a good-quality version (I love himalayan) and stay away from the gross iodised table salt my mum used to ply me with. It is packed with trace minerals that can help maintain a healthy stomach pH. It’s also important to replenish the salts lost through exercise (ever seen those white marks on your favourite black crop-top?). Granted, excessive amounts of salt in your diet won’t be all that great for your bod, but this super tasty bowl has just a pinch, and is super post-workout to replenish and revive.

Aside from the science, this is one delicious bowl. Sweet, silky and satisfying – it would make an awesome breakfast or even dessert.

I may have been partial to a Fry’s Turkish Delight bar or two in the past…there was something so tempting about that gooey rose centre. Turns out that was a gel of starch and sugar, coloured pink and filled with flavourings. Somehow not quite so appealing anymore. To get my rose + chocolate fix, it’s time to get in the kitchen. This one-bowl recipe is so simple and ready in under 40 minutes (including setting time) so you can kick back and enjoy a guilt-free substitute that’s sure to blow your {turkish} socks off.

The coconut oil base is fabulous for boosting your metabolism. It’s converted quickly by the body for fuel, rather than stored for later use. Chocolate that revs up your fat burning? You got it.

This week has been full of early mornings for me. These mornings require chocolate, and plenty of it (ladies listen up – this is your body calling out for a dose of magnesium). While I don’t recommend grabbing the nearest Hershey’s bar (urgh), there are plenty of healthy ways to get your chocolate fix…and this is one of them. Hallelujah.

*My muffins bring all the (gym) boys to the yard*

Need a healthy pick-me-up? These mini chocolate muffins are where it’s at. These babies are awesome for chocolate cravings, are sugar free (you’re sweet enough, right?) and are totally gluten + dairy free. Not only that, they’re boosted with additional protein, which acts as the building block for your bones and muscles. It’s also one of the only nutrients your body can’t produce itself, so you have to supply it with a steady stream throughout the day.

Biology not your thing? Basically, just eat these.

You would be forgiven for thinking this velvety smooth chocolate cream would wreak havoc with your clean eating goals. However, this guilt free alternative is actually full of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory mono-saturated fats. It’s versatile too: try it spread on your favourite toast, use as a clean cake frosting or even fruit dip. Teamed with a layer of simple cherry Chia Jam, this will become a new favourite for entertaining. Impressive, simple and downright delicious.
